There're certain movies one can't deny are funny, others are successfull, but it doesn't mean they deliver the best examples. My Dear Secretary has a happy

end, but the cost of that is an intelligent, tallented woman to accept all the wrongs of the man "she's in love with."
The final scene is simply outrageous. He ends up being a mediocre writer and, on the other hand, has written a best-seller. Because she cannot dettach herself from him, she rents an apartment right above his. He knows an attractive man is heading the place to work as a secretary, and, as soon as he knows she is the one who hired him, he rush to there, almost breaks in, and orders the secretary to leave. Aftar a brief discussion, he smiles, recognize she's better and she gives up trying to resist; everything goes according to his way.
As I said in the beginning, it's not possible to say that's a bad production, but it goes hand in hand with this easy sexist recipe that counts with some social archetypes.
Works for historical analys.

of relating honestly to any human being, even in a single transaction. This movie was concocted by 'artists' who have no concept of sincerity in human interactions. There's nothing funny about this 'comedy' and its pathological worldview. Sick and disturbing.

Perhaps a little dated but harmless none the less...
The most interesting thing for me about the movie was in seeing a 'young' Irene Ryan. It took me ... a little while to catch on to it, but just add the hillbilly accent and you've got Granny Clampet!

I like these old romances that don't require a lot of thought. Sometimes an evening calls for a flick like that.
I liked seeing Kirk Douglas in a role ... I'm not accustomed to seeing him in. I think he handled it pretty well.

The first film Mr. Douglas did that was a comedy. His protrayal of the artisan of literature was dead on, as the slightly neurotic and understandably ... in the moment book author. Mr.
Wynn handle the load of the mantle of comedic moments, however and left some moments for Mr. Douglas to gnaw on. Not the best film of his early career but enjoyable never the less.

Champion as well as Letter to three Wives}
